Abstract

Using Curtis's MOG we display the orbits and orbit representatives for various subgroups of the Mathieu group $M_{24}$ acting on the octads of the Steiner system $S(24,8,5)$. This information is deployed to study a graph associated with the largest simple Fischer group.
